We all know that Google’s Android operating system is gaining widespread acceptance, whereby more and more people are using this particular platform for their netbooks and smartphones. In fact, I’d reckon that the Android is sending chills to top phone manufacturers in the world, such as Apple and RIM, as clearly, the Android marketshare is expanding at an alarming rate.

Nevertheless, Google has yet again made the Android even more competitive, whereby the total number of applications tailored for the Android has reached the golden 100,000 mark. And to make things even more interesting, Google now has added 20 countries to the list of approved submitters, which means that more developers can now submit their application in the Android marketplace.

The mobile phone industry is pretty competitive indeed, whereby the Apple’s iOS, Android, and even RIM’s OS is taking the smartphone market by storm. Surely, venturing out into such a competitive market would definitely create casualties, whereby Nokia, Sony Ericsson, and a few other mobile phone manufacturers are already experiencing slower sales than usual.

Of course, Nokia has earlier been all-hyped up in creating their very first operating system, which was initially intended to counter the Android threats – but surely, I’m guessing that the application is experiencing a dramatic shortfall. And to make things even more interesting, it seems that the VP that was in charge to develop Nokia’s Meego has just recently resigned. Basically, Talous Sanomat tendered his resignation last week, but another Nokia spokesperson has reckon that his resignation will not affect Meego’s scheduled rollout.

Personally, I don’t think that the Meego can reach greater heights, as clearly, the market is pretty dominated by the Android, don’t you think so?
