The Sharp Galapagos e-reader series made a grand debut just 9 months ago, in which the e-reader features a rather sleek and stylish outlook, and it even comes with a color-screen too, which is not accustomed to existing e-readers in the market. However 9 months after its grand debut, Sharp has announced that the company will be discontinuing the original Galapagos e-reader, in which the company will be stop taking orders for their 5.5-inch and 10.8-inch Android tablets, starting from September the 30th.
Apparently, Sharp will not be exiting the e-reader market anytime soon, whereby they will continue to produce the 7-inch A01SH, which was launched just last month. The Japanese firm is confident that the e-reader market will continue to expand in the future. According to insider’s sources, the declining sales of the Galapagos e-readers might be the major factor in its discontinuation.
