Wal-Mart to Use Smart Tag on Men Basics PDF Print E-mail
Wednesday, 14 July 2010
Large superstores like Wal-Mart are known for their usage of technology in their store’s operations. And according to Wal-Mart, it seems that the company is planning to deploy the usage of smart tags on men’s basics.

In fact, Wal-Mart plans to embed electronic identification tags on men’s clothing, such as jeans. This particular electronic tag, allows store workers to quickly scan through the pile of clothes, so that they can identify sizes that are missing in the stockpile. However, embedded such tags also spark privacy concerns, whereby the store will be able to compile such data into their database, and use it for their advantage.

why would they want to tag things? Aren't that time consuming plus more work for the workers?

yea, who would want to do such things? it's like spending to much time cataloging millions of items, without considering that they might gain much from the effort smilies/angry.gif
